Kim has a great school! She is patient, nice and friendly. Really enjoyed my kite session at her school today! She has a wide range of gear to use.

Leading up to the trip the wind was looking great but unfortunately as... read more we got closer the wind shifted and unfortunately never cooperated. However, here’s where the 5*s comes in Kim checked in with me every day and sometimes multiple times per day. Always with a great attitude and trying to find a way to make it work. Although the wind never turned in our favor, I was really impressed with the effort that the Awa Salu team put in to try to make it work. Thanks for all the effort. We’ll just have to come back.

  During our vacation in Curacao we (dad with two adult children) decided to take some kitesurfing lessons with Awa Salu. We had no experience in kitesurfing. When we first arrived... read more there was quite some wind and we saw the people on the lake with huge kites flying over the water and we were wondering what we got ourselves into.

Kim is very hands-on and teaches in the water (not all kitesurfing schools do this). As other reviewers already mentioned she has a great sense of humor and makes the classes really fun. I felt that everyday we made progress and by the end of the 5 day course we all were able to do the water start and stay on the board (my kids a little bit longer than me).

Kim is very analytical in her approach. On day 3 I hit a roadblock and she quickly identified the issue, had me do some exercise and after that the roadblock was cleared. Kim has state of the art equipment in all sizes for little kids to bigger sizes, she gave us rash guards and sunglasses to borrow. She has sails for every weather type (bigger kites for when there is little wind, smaller kites for when it is storming).

I wanted a shared experience with my kids, an experience on which we could later look back and we got exactly that and more. It was so much fun and we were sad when our classes were over. When we return to Curacao next year we will definitely book some more classes with Kim and improve our kitesurfing!
